Main and Adult Library
Books open worlds – the library provides a varied and high-quality choice of media, catering for many interests and all age groups. It concentrates on topicality, sustainability and demand. You can find literature to read, to study (2 Internet work stations) and a lending library that enables you always to be up-to-date. For our young users there are numerous media to assist and prepare their progress into adulthood and working life. Interested readers and fans can find entertaining literature organised under subjects, such as adventure, fantasy, women, historical, crime, thrillers and so on.
The freely accessible Youth and Adult Library is arranged on the first floor of the North and West Wings, where ca. 37,500 items are available.
Fiction, books for teenagers, reference books, dictionaries, legal documents, regional local knowledge, maps, periodicals, information literature, two Internet work stations, two individual computers for readers to research the library catalogue.
Children’s Library
Browse, play, read, meet friends, do your homework. The cosy children’s library under the roof is open to all. There is wide selection to stimulate the joy of reading and every bookworm will find something suitable. Children can take part in amusing, exciting, interesting and unusual activities associated with reading.
Books for children up to 13 years, picture books, factual books, games, periodicals.
Phonotheque
The children’s library is situated on the second floor of the West Wing and contains ca. 12,900 media. With music and audio books, the Phonotheque has something to please every ear. A large selection of films and games ensures a great games or cinema evening at home.
The Phonotheque can be reached through the gateway in the centre of the North Wing. There is a side entrance for the disabled in the courtyard. Our range of media runs to ca. 7,600 items.

Inter-library loan service:
If requested, media that are not available from our shelves can be ordered from elsewhere. Under www.gbv.de you can search for the required literature yourself.
